ST. LAWRENCE PARISH
A ROMAN CATHOLIC COMMUNITY

WELCOME

As Pastor of St. Lawrence Parish, I want to welcome you in the name of Christ our Savior. I sincerely hope that you will regard this Parish as your home away from home - a place of peace, comfort, and security but also of challenge, strength and spiritual growth. I pray that you will consider this Parish Community as an extension of your own family, and that you experience God's love for you in the celebration of the sacraments and in other members of the community.

St. Lawrence Parish has a history of being involved in the wider community in many different ways. I hope that you will help continue that tradition by your active involvement in parish life and most especially in your active participation in the celebration of the Eucharist. Christ tells us in the Gospel of John: "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day."

Pope Pius XII in his encyclical Mediator Dei wrote: "…the worship rendered to God by the Church in union with her divine Head is the most efficacious means of achieving sanctity." In short we believe that by actively participating in the Eucharist and being Eucharist for others we are gradually transformed more and more into the image of Christ.

May God bless you and grant you the grace to grow in the love and knowledge of his Son Jesus Christ. I pray that you, as disciples of Christ, strive to bring the love of Jesus to others within our parish community and out into the whole world.

With peace and blessings in Christ,

Fr. Robert Buongirno
